When the Data Centers on Comes to Town.

Interviews with local residents and workers in rural towns in Portland and Texas while Data Centers are being built and the economic impact on the community.

From the description:

"Taxpayers in Texas and Virginia are subsidizing data centers by handing out over $1 billion a year to tech companies. More than 30 states subsidize data centers and Big Tech with massive tax breaks. And while CEOs have promised thousands of jobs, they haven't materialized."

A 50% increase in electricity bill is massive. Short term gains for long term drains. Very transitory benefits that look GREAT in the short term but dry up pretty quickly and all those AirB&B profits will be gone as once the buildings are operational. This reminds me of what happened to Williston North Dakota when they had the fracking boom.

And the "home aid" worker being priced out of the market looks a lot like what was happening during the fracking boom also.

I remember being told Electricians are always "working their way out of a job" when I started as an apprentices. Governor "hot wheels" and the other politician in Abilene know exactly what is going to happen but it won't impact them.
